The
meeting started by 4.45 pm with the opening prayers said by Apim Ninma. He also
read the minutes of the last meeting held on the 18th December,
2011. The minute was adopted by John Ojuola and seconded by Segun Daramola.
Fisayo Arowosegbe , Kudi Olobayo and Femi Obagboye
sent apologies for not attending the meeting. Orighoye Edukugho was in
attendance for the first time and was welcomed. Moji Badmus promised to be around for our next meeting.
Due
to the fuel crises issues that affected the country earlier in the year, we
could not hold meeting in January, February too was another busy month for most
of our members. Hence there was no meeting held.
Jumoke
Olayemi was present. She resides in Australia and works with Department of Education.
John Ojuola informed us of Jumoke’s father’s death. The reason she came to
Nigeria was for her father’s burial. Segun Daramola spoke on behalf of DEMOSA Lagos.
Segun
Daramola still laid emphasis’ on the need to be in touch with one another and
continue to build a stronger relationship with our individual families as it is,
with other Old School Alumni that have strong footing. We don’t pray for any unforeseen
situation for any one of us but if it eventually happens, we need to assist
ourselves. It could be in cases where one needs to change job, medical expenses,
etc
Segun
discussed with our doctor, Fisayo Ojo about Mohammed Afegbua- Goggles’s vision
problem and what we can do to assist him. We will get the details when Fisayo
Ojo is around. We need to assist
ourselves at our points of need he said.
The
issue of whether the time for our meeting should be changed so as to enable other members to be present
was raised. Ninma Apim and John Ojuola agreed that the last Sunday of the month
earlier scheduled is still the best time for our meeting. Officers should be
appointed to hold post in trust and coordinate affairs of DEMOSA Lagos state.
John Ojuola was appointed PRO, Bola Olanrewaju as acting Secretary. Ninma Apim
has created a blog as agreed at our last meeting for DEMOSA. The address is
demosa–lagos.blogspot.com
Segun
asked Jumoke Olayemi what she can do for us. Since information is power, we
need to know the opportunities available for us as Nigerians in Australia in
their Educational sector. She explained that,
there is opportunity for International student who are interested in vocational
training. The students are trained for two years after which they can apply for
permanent residency and they will be given. There are few people there who are
from Nigeria.
Ninma
works with standard oganisation of Nigeria (SON) and he expressed his intention
to establish a company of his own. John Ojuola with his contacts has agreed to
assist him with some of his links.
Orighoye’s
field is reaching out to street children and reinstating them back to normal life. If we have anybody close to us,
or anyone we know that needs Orighoye’s assistance we can simply reach him for necessary details.
With
time we shall save ourselves the idea of getting together every last Sunday of
each month with the aid of Information Technology when we are fully
established. Our coming to gather now once a mouth is not a bad idea either. In
view of this a BB group has been set up to remind ourselves of things that need
be done. Its tagged (DEMOSA GROUP) the pin is 311BACEB. We are enjoined to
invite as many members of Demosa as possible to join the group.
The
next meeting is scheduled to hold on the 29th of April, 2012
John
Ojuola moved the motion for adjournment of the meeting, Bola seconded the
motion.
Ninma
Apim said the closing prayers.
