The meeting started by 4pm
with prayers said by Fisayo Arowosegbe and she also read the minute of the last
meeting held 27th November,2011.
The names of all that were
present at the meeting were not included. This observation was made known by
Bola Olanrewaju. She too adopted the minute while Segun Daramola seconded.
Kudi Olobayo sent apology
for not attending the meeting so also did Segun Kolawole, Bukky Dada, Mohammed
Afegbua and Victor Buoro. Fisayo Ojo was in attendance for the first time and
she was welcomed.
Segun Daramola thanked and
is grateful to God Almighty for our existence till now. He still lay emphasis
that the coming together of the Old Students of Demonstration Secondary School
is not one person’s idea. It is good to keep up the good relationship we all
started with a long time ago and continue to build on it. This will continue to
keep us together, Segun said. He also mentioned that since we are all
specialized and from different fields of life now, we will learn and benefit
from each other at different times and levels. He further said that it will not
be a bad idea at all if we build a Blog for DEMOSA. As this will be another way
of bringing more of our Old Students together. Segun further urge us that by
the next meeting we should try to get in touch with other Old Students that are
not yet aware of the existence of DEMOSA and we make sure we invite them to
come so we can have a full house. Ninma Apim assured us that he will assist with
building of the Blog for DEMOSA before the next meeting.
Fisayo Ojo added that we
should be in touch with one another. By doing this, we will continue to build
up the Association and keep it alive. She also suggested that we should create
activities that will assist and be of help to us. Activities like inviting
people from different fields of life to have a talk with us. In this respect,
Fisayo Arowosegbe introduced an organization called TASLY WORLD NIGERIA COMPANY
LIMITED to us. This organization’s concern is health. Segun told her to discuss
it with our Doctor in the house, Fisayo Ojo, about all necessary details since
its her field so that a conclusion can be reached about inviting them over to
talk to us concerning our health.
Segun made it clear that
there will be need to assist our Alma-mata. As we know that certain
professional bodies cannot advertise their service that is why, there is the
need to have people on ground to serve as intermediary to keep us informed
about happenings in the school. This brought in the matter concerning the
amount we shall be contributing. Fisayo Ojo suggested we start with something
no matter how small for now then we can later decide when we have more members
on how much that befits us to contribute monthly. A bank account shall be
opened in the name of DEMOSA Lagos State Chapter. Three appointed members shall be signatories
to the account before money can be released for the purpose it is meant for.
Bola Olanrewaju asked if
Abuja Chapter held their meeting as scheduled. Segun confirmed saying yes but
nothing was pasted on Facebook as we did during our first meeting. He got in
touch with other chapters encouraging them to start something as well.
The Logo issue was also
raised by Segun. Two or three different Logos should be designed from which the
very best that befits DEMOSA will be chosen.
John Ojuola urged us all
to be punctual so we can leave on time because of those that come from far
distances.
The next meeting is
scheduled to hold on the 29th of January 2012
Ninma Apim moved the
motion for adjournment of the meeting, John seconded the motion.
